Clitheroe 2 (Evo-Stik League) Att 167 |
Ashley
Parillon replaced Alex Brees in midfield in the
only change from the previous game.
Clitheroe came back from Skem with
a good point after twice being in the lead. The
Blues made a great start and early pressure saw
them take a 3rd minute lead when Josh
Hine broke clear of the defence to slot
home. The home side equalised in the 22nd minute
with a great run and strike before Clitheroe
regained the lead in the 41st minute. Josh Hine
was felled as he jinked inside the penalty area
and Ashley Parillon made no
mistake from the resulting spot kick for a
deserved half time lead. Skem had the better of
the second half and equalised in the 64th minute
to leave the sides sharing the points.))

Clitheroe were a match for Farsley
throughout the game but avoidable goals at the
end of both halves saw them slide to defeat. The
home side took the lead in the 41st minute when a
loose ball from a corner was knocked home from
very close range. The Blues had a good spell on
top in the second half and struck the woodwork
but it was Farsley who scored next in the 90th
minute through an own goal to seal the points. ))

second half goals for the visitors in the 78th
and 88th minutes sealed a Curzon victory.))

Borough 0 (Evo-Stik League) Att 242 |
Josh
Hine returned from suspension to replace Ollie
Devenney and start up front in the only change
from the previous game.
Clitheroe returned to winning ways
with this victory but Radcliffe were better than
the final scoreline suggests. The Blues made a
great start and opened the scoring in the 15th
minute when Ashley Parillon
drilled home from close range. The first half was
very even with the visitors very much in the game
and this continued after the interval. Clitheroe
increased the lead in the 60th minute when Jordan
Hulme broke clear and coolly finished
for his first goal for the club. The Blues then
began to control the game more and notched a
third goal in the 74th minute when Josh
Hine raced in on goal to score and Joe
Roberts scored the fourth goal in the 77th
minute with a far post header.)
Team : Zack Hibbert, Chris Smalley,

Clitheroe 1 (Evo-Stik League) Att 191 |
Jordan
Hulme made his debut to replace Alex Johnson up
front in the only change from the previous game. Ryan
McGreevy made his debut from the subs bench.
Clitheroe had to settle for a draw
away at an in-form team after leading for much of
the game. The Blues made a great start by taking
the lead in the 9th minute when debutant striker
Jordan Hulme latched onto a delightful through
ball from Ollie Devenney and his decent cross
into the box was firmly headed home by a
Warrington defender for an own goal.
Clitheroe did enough to hold the lead until the
interval and well into the second half before a
spell of home pressure saw the home side equalise
in the 84th minute. ))
Team : Zack Hibbert, Chris Smalley,

Tue 08/11/11 - Clitheroe 1 Ossett
Town 2 (Evo-Stik League) Att 174 |
James
Davis replaced Steve Mercer in defence in the
only change from the previous game.
Clitheroe slumped to another
disappointing home defeat and visitors Ossett
Town will be as surprised as anyone that they
left with the 3 points. The Blues made a great
start and took the lead in the 6th minute when Ashley
Parillon chested down a right wing cross
in space and fired home from 10 yards. The
visitors equalised in the 29th minute when a long
range free kick was cruelly deflected past keeper
Zack Hibbert for an own goal. Clitheroe should
have gone on to take the points though,
especially when Ossett Town were reduced to 10
men but it was the visitors who sealed the win
with a second goal in the 77th minute. ))
Team : Zack Hibbert, Chris Smalley,

and James Davis in midfield, Ashley Parillon
replaced Ross Dent to play up front alongside
debutant Alex Johnson who replaced Josh Hine.
Adam Edwards made his debut from the subs bench.
Clitheroe worked hard to get back
on level terms but then conceded threelate goals
to lose heavily at home. Trafford opened the
scoring in the 17th minute and did enough to hold
on to their slender half time lead. The Blues
finally equalised in the 87th minute when Adam
Edwards raced clear of the visitors
defence to calmly slot the ball home past the
advancing keeper. Trafford regained the lead in
the 90th minute and added another two in added-on
time to give the scoresheet a surprising full
time result.))

Zack
Hibbert replaced Jonathon Hine in goal, Andy
Naylor, Matthew Carr, Ross Dent and James Davis
replaced Joe Roberts, Matt Atherton, Ashley
Parillon and Damilola Ajagbe in midfield.
Clitheroe will look on this as 2
points dropped rather than 1 point gained. The
Blues started the game well and soon had the ball
in the net only for it to be ruled out for
offside. They had to wait until the 45th minute
to take the lead when Eddie Stanford
slotted home a penalty after Josh Hine was felled
in the box. The visitors were brighter after the
break and equalised in the 80th minute to take a
share of the spoils.))

Clitheroe were give a lesson in
slick passing and movement in the first half and
went in for the interval 2 nil down, the Woodley
goals coming in the 15th and 45th minutes. The
Blues improved after the break and had a good
spell on top which culminated in them pulling a
goal back in the 75th minute when James
Davis stroked the ball home at the far
post after it took a deflection on its way across
the penalty area. )

Sat 22/10/11 - Cammell Laird 1
Clitheroe 1 (Evo-Stik League) Att 55 |
Marlon
Broomes and Jack Higgins replaced Ben Jackson and
James Smart in defence, Joe Roberts replaced
Damilola Ajagbe in midfield.
Clitheroe returned to league
action and had to settle for a point after
playing for 50 minutes with ten men. The Blues
made a bright start and took the lead in the 15th
minute when Josh Hine raced
through the home defence to fire home from 10
yards. Clitheroe dominated the first half but
instead of stretching the lead even further they
had Josh Hine sent off shortly before half time.
Cammell Laird improved after the break and they
equalised in the 48th minute and then dominated
play for much of the second half. The Blues didn't
really threaten the home goal and had to settle
for a point when all three looked likely for most
of the first half.
Team : Zack Hibbert, Steve Mercer,
Chris Smalley, Matthew Carr (Damilola Ajagbe),
Marlon Broomes, Jack Higgins (c), Eddie Stanford,
Joe Roberts (Ross Dent), Josh Hine, Andy Naylor (Chris

Round) Att 102 |
Ben
Jackson replaced Damilola Ajagbe in defence,
Damilola Ajagbe and Andy Naylor replaced Peter
Moore and Carl Osman in midfield.
Clitheroe exited the League Cup
with this narrow defeat but had keeper Zack
Hibbert to thank for keeping the scoreline down.
The Blues started the game well and had 4 good
efforts on goal in the opening few minutes
including Josh Hine striking the cross bar. It
was Lancaster who opened the scoring though in
the 9th minute and they doubled it in the 36th
minute. Clitheroe made a couple of substitutions
for the second half and pulled a goal back in the
60th minute when Josh Hine fired
home from 10 yards after Andy Naylor pulled the
ball back from the goal line. Lancaster were
thwarted by several great saves from Zack Hibbert
throughout the match and Andy Naylor had a great
chance to level the scores towards the end but
fired his snap shot over the bar.
Team : Zack Hibbert, Ben Jackson,
James Smart, Damilola Ajagbe (Joe Roberts), Steve
Mercer, Chris Smalley, Matthew Carr, Eddie

Damilola
Ajagbe and James Smart replaced Lee Woodyat and
Jack Higgins in defence, Peter Moore, Eddie
Stanford and Carl Osman (making his debut)
replaced Alex Brees, Andy Naylor and James Davis
in midfield.
Clitheroe created enough chances
to win this pulsating replay comfortably
including an effort cleared off the line in the
last minute of normal time but instead made a
disappointing exit from the FA Trophy at the
first hurdle. In the 4th minute Josh Hine was
body-checked by the keeper just outside the area
as he went to pass him on the outside to earn the
goalie a yellow card. In the 9th minute a superb
left wing cross from James Smart was glanced home
by Ashley Parillon but the effort was ruled out
for offside. The Blues took the lead in the 20th
minute when Josh Hine ran in on
goal and turned inside a defender before scoring
with a low firm shot. The visitors had the chance
to equalise from the penalty spot in the 33rd
minute but Clitheroe keeper Zack Hibbert made a
great save to force the shot over the bar but
Salford did equalise in the final minute of the
first half. Ashley Parillon almost regained the
lead in the 60th minute with a speculative strike
that struck the foot of the post before he was
fouled moments later to earn a Salford player a
second yellow and sending off. The Blues then
created many more good chances with Josh Hine
having a 90th minute double effort cleared off
the line to take the tie to extra time. Salford
took the lead in the last minute of the first
half of extra time and then withstood pressure
from Clitheroe as they themselves looked for the
equaliser. Steve Mercer received his second
yellow of the game in the very last minute before
Salford fluffed a great chance to make the score
3-1 to them.

Clitheroe conceded goals at both
ends of the second half after looking comfortable
with a two goal half-time lead. The Blues took
the lead in the 6th minute when a superb diagonal
pass from Ashley Parillon released Josh
Hine on a clear run on goal and he made
no mistake with a good finish. The second goal
came after 29 minutes when Salford's keeper
miscontrolled a back pass and Josh Hine
pounced to score his second goal of the game. The
home side pulled a goal back in the 46th minute
and looked a more threatening side in the second
half. They equalised deep into added-on time to
take the tie to a replay at Shawbridge.

Clitheroe made a disappointing
exit from the FA Cup in unseasonal sweltering
conditions. The Blues took the lead in the 13th
minute when Josh Hine slotted
home from 10 yards but the visitors soon levelled
the scores in the 20th minute. Clitheroe's Nick
Walker was sent off just before half time and
Radcliffe made the extra man count after the

Higgins and Chris Smalley in defence, Ross Dent,
Joe Roberts and Alex Ralph replaced Nick Walker,
Matthew Carr and Ashley Parillon in midfield and
Chris McNally replaced Josh Hine up front.
Clitheroe made 9 changes and gave
debuts to 6 players as they
beat Trafford after extra time and penalties in
the League Cup. This unfamiliar line up played
well together and took the lead in the 34th
minute when Alex Ralph's fine cross from close to
the corner flag was met in front of goal by Chris
McNally who guided his header past the
home keeper. Trafford increased their tempo in
the second half and equalised in the 67th minute
when a low long range effort took a deflection
past the Blues' debutant keeper who otherwise had
a very good game. The game ended 1-1 after 90
minutes and while both sides had chances in extra
time the tie was decided on penalties. Jonathan
Hine saved Trafford's first penalty and captain Joe
Roberts scored Clitheroe's first.
Trafford scored with their next penalty and Nick
Walker scored the Blues' second to keep
the lead. Trafford fired their next penalty over
the bar and Josh Hine fired home
for a 3-1 lead. Trafford scored with their next
spotkick but Ben Hoskin scored
the deciding penalty to put Clitheroe through 4-2
on penalties.

Clitheroe again had to withstand
some early pressure from the visiting side before
taking the lead in the 15th minute when Josh
Hine ran onto a through ball and prodded
home under pressure from a defender. Both sides
had further chances before half time but didn't
put them away. Early in the second half Farsley
had a player sent off for a dangerous lunge and
from the resulting free kick Jack Higgins
headed home at the far post in the 53rd minute.
Blues keeper Zach Hibbert made several vital
saves to deny the visitors who were reduced to 9
men before they scored a consolation goal in the
90th minute.

Ben
Jackson replaced Marlon Broomes in defence, Nick
Walker and Chris Turner replaced Liam Wynn and
Eddie Stanford in midfield.
Clitheroe came from a goal down to
comfortable win this replay and set up a home
meeting with Radcliffe Borough in the next round.
Burscough started the game in dominant style
though and pegged the Blues back in their own
half for the opening minutes until they opened
the scoring in the 6th minute. They then seemed
to ease off and Clitheroe evened up the play and
score by equalising in the 22nd minute when Josh
Hine burst through the middle and
finished at the second attempt. They increased
the lead in the 35th minute when Nick
Walker drilled home an angled drive from
the edge of the penalty area. The third goal came
in the 42nd minute after Nathan Taylor drifted
in from the wing to connect with a loose ball and
fire it across and under the Burscough keeper for
a healthy 3-1 interval lead. Clitheroe stretched
their advantage even more in the 65th minute when
good play down the right wing saw Andy Naylor's
firm cross finished by Alex Ralph
at the far post. The visitors pulled a goal back
in the 76th minute but Josh Hine
restored the three goal advantage just a minute
later when he charged down the keeper to knock
the ball into the net.

James
Smart replaced Steve Mercer in defence and Josh
Hine made his debut up front in place Matt
Atherton.
Clitheroe had to settle for a
replay after comfortably being ahead twice at
their Premier Division hosts. The Blues took the
lead in the 19th minute when new signing Josh
Hine laid the ball off to Ashley Parillon and his
forward pass set Nathan Taylor on
a run into the penalty area and he fired the ball
home under the advancing keeper. Both sides had
free kicks that struck the woodwork as Clitheroe
looked good value for their half time lead.
Burscough started the second half with more
intent and equalised in the 46th minute. The game
was more even after the break and Clitheroe
regained the lead in the 58th minute when Josh
Hine was felled by the keeper in the corner of
the penalty area as he made to go round him. Ashley
Parillon scoring the resulting spot kick.
The Blues looked the more likely to score next
but it was the hosts who were to find the net in
the 83rd minute to set up Tuesday's replay at
Shawbridge.

Chris Turner in midfield and Matt Atherton
replaced Ben Duffield up front.
Clitheroe played their part in an
exciting game and lost out to 2 great strikes
from the visitors. Nathan Taylor had two good
scoring opportunities before Skem took the lead
in the 18th minute with a wonder shot from 35
yards. The Blues equalised in the 31st minute
when Jack Higgins was fouled in the penalty area
and Ashley Parillon slotted home
the spot kick. The second half continued with end
to end action and Clitheroe had a great chance to
take the lead but Marlon Broome's header from a
corner was saved and the follow up effort was
driven narrowly wide. The visitors scored their
second goal with another well struck shot in the
75th minute and then did enough to keep Clitheroe
out and take the 3 points.

only change from the previous match.
Clitheroe snatched the points
thanks to an early 11th minute strike from Eddie
Stanford who fired a bouncing loose ball
home from just outside the penalty area. The rest
of the game was notable only for some poor Witton
finishing though Blues keeper Zack Hibbert's
handling was excellent throughout the game.

Steve
Mercer and Chris Smalley replaced Ben Jackson and
James Smart in defence, Ross Dent replaced
Matthew Carr in midfield along with Chris Turner
who made his debut in place of Alex Brees. Ben
Duffield made his debut in place of Darren Green
up front.
Clitheroe fielded their first
choice back five for the first time this season
along with another two debutants and an excellent
team performance was rewarded with this superb
win over a previously unbeaten Skelmersdale.
There wasn't much between the sides until the
Blues opened the scoring in the 26th minute. A
left wing cross was prodded goalwards by Ross
Dent and as it bounced back off the far post Ben
Duffield made no mistake from 6 yards.
Clitheroe increased the lead in the 33rd minute
when Eddie Stanford drove home a
freekick from the edge of the D and were worthy
of the 2 goal halftime lead. The visitors were
reduced to 10 men five minutes into the second
half and they continued to try to play football
but were thwarted by an improved defensive
display from Clitheroe. Keeper Zach Hibbert made
some important saves before the Blues scored
their third goal in the 83rd minute when Ashley
Parillon drove home from close range.
There was just time for a fourth goal in the 90th
minute when Alex Brees outpaced
the Skem defence and fired the ball home to
secure a trip to Burscough in the 1st Qualifying
Round.

Ben

with James Smart who made his debut in place of
Darren Green. Ashley Parillon replaced Nick
Walker in midfield along with Matthew Carr who
made his debut in place of Ryan Tanser.
Clitheroe won their first game of
the season but were made to work for it against a
strong finishing Garforth side. The Blues opened
the scoring in the 38th minute through an Alex
Brees header and went in at half time
with a 1-0 lead. They doubled the gap in the 48th
minute when Alex Brees notched
his second goal and seemed to have secured the 3
points when Ashley Parillon
scored the third goal after 60 minutes with a
simple finish into an empty net. The visitors
pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute and set the
Shawbridge nerves jangling when they scored
another through a long range effort in the 77th
minute. Garforth piled on the pressure in the
closing stages but a young Clitheroe side held on
to secure 3 vital points.

Marlon
Broomes made his debut in place of Chris Smalley
in defence, Liam Wynn and Ryan Tanser made their
debuts in place of Andy Naylor and Nathan Taylor
who moved up front to replace Danny Nolan.
Clitheroe fell to a disappointing
defeat after being confortably in front for over
an hour. The Blues took the lead in the 34th
minute when a ball into the box was nudged by
Alex Brees into the path of Nathan Taylor
who took a touch and then volleyed the ball into
the net from 10 yards. Clitheroe were good value
for their slender half time lead and while
Prescot came more into the game after the break
they still looked to have control of the game.
That changed in the 70th minute when the visitors
equalised after a low cross was allowed to run
across goal to be knocked in from close range.
Steve Mercer received a second yellow card in the
80th minute and Prescot took the lead when the
resultant free kick was smartly fired home from a
tight angle outside the box. On-loan Liam Wynn
fired in two freekicks, one that hit the bar and
another that forced a good save at the foot of
the near post and that was the closest the Blues
came to snatching an equaliser of their own.

Zak

Darren Green replaced Ben Whitcomb in defence and
Danny Nolan replaced Alan Coar up front.
Clitheroe were twice ahead but
slipped to defeat against an ordinary Trafford
side. The Blues made a good start and took the
lead in the 14th minute when Darren Green's left
low left wing cross was diverted into the net by
a home defender in front of goal.
The lead didn't last long as Trafford equalised
in the 14th minute. Clitheroe regained the lead
in the 24th minute when a superb diagonal pass
from Martin Parker released Alex Brees down the
wing and his low cross was met by Nathan
Taylor in front of goal to score from 4
yards out. Trafford equalised again in the 40th
minute from the penalty spot to leave the scores
level at the interval. The home side took the
lead in the 57th minute and could have increased
the winning margin but for a superb save from
Blues' keeper Zak Jones who forced a long range
piledriver onto and over the crossbar.

Clitheroe made six changes but
slipped to a heavy defeat after losing keeper
Zack Hibbert in the 10th minute following a late
challenge as he came out to collect a through
ball. Darren Green took his place in goal. Just a
minute later the home keeper also appeared to be
in trouble and once play was stopped following
Brig's first goal he received lengthy treatment
for what looked like a dislocated finger before
play resumed. The Blues were playing some good
football and creating numerous chances but once
Brig got within striking distance of the
Clitheroe net then a goal looked likely and
helped by some defensive lapses they scored again
in the 21st, 32nd and 45th minutes for a 4-0
interval lead. Clitheroe weren't quite as bright
after the break yet conceded just two further
goals in the 58th and 77th minutes. Sub Danny
Nolan produced a great save from the home keeper
towards the end before a late dismissal for Nick
Walker saw Clitheroe finish the game with 10 men.

The Manager of the Month curse
made a very early appearance as Clitheroe lost
their opening game of the new campaign to end
Carl Garner's unbeaten run as manager. The game
made a slow start and Rob Turner had the first
real chance when he turned and fired an effort
wide of the far post. Wakefield took the lead in
the 34th minute to hold a slender interval lead.
Things didn't really improve for the Blues after
the break and only a combination of poor
finishing by the visitors and some fine saves
from Zack Hibbert kept the margin down. Clitheroe
had a flurry of late corners but the Wakefield
defensive line remained as strong as it had all
afternoon.
